In Hunters , actor Zack Schor plays Meyer Offerman, the younger version of Al Pacino 's character, and his scenes are mostly set in Auschwitz. As Muscle & Fitness reports, Schor has a family connection to the Holocaust, and he wanted to emotionally and physically transform himself for the part. His goal was to lose 35 pounds to play Offerman, which is a hard goal for anyonebut to make things even harder, Schor was pretty muscular before he set out to lose the weight.

"It was incredibly personal and resonant, this story, and I knew that what I brought to it physically would be very important," Schor said. "I wanted people to see what this character went through, I wanted them to be uncomfortable when they saw me on screen."

So how did Schor end up losing the weight? He ran. Schor says that along with drastically decreasing his food consumption, he ran a couple of miles a day on a treadmill, sometimes a few times a day. He ended up losing 20 pounds in 20 days, but he kept at the regimen for a few more months until he lost the last 15. And while this is not a weight loss regimen that should be copied by anyone, Schor made sure to check in with a doctor on a regular basis as he lost weight.

After the show wrapped, Schor knew that he had another long journey to gain his weight and muscle mass back. He explained that he increased his calories gradually, and it took him six weeks to get back to lifting, as he first had to rebuild his core strength.

But even with how hard it was to lose and regain the weight, Schor said that he's extremely glad that he did it. "With this role, it was vital for me to go as far as I could with it," he said. "Physically, mentally, emotionally, it's all there on the screen."
