A distressed mother in Makueni has collapsed and died at a police station while complaining about her teenage daughter's unruly behaviour.

The woman who had frogmarched her indisciplined daughter to Salama Police Station was narrating to the officers how her daughter's mischief had tormented her.

According to a statement from the Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI), Consolata Mutua said her 19-year-old girl did not go home during the school holidays and was in the process of begging the officers to intervene when she was overcome by emotions.

"Consolata Mutua had frogmarched her daughter to the station accusing her of bad behaviour. As she begged our officers to intervene so that her daughter mends her ways, she became emotionally overwhelmed and collapsed," the DCI noted.

After she collapsed, police officers and a well-wisher tried administering first aid to the 50-year-old woman but their efforts were futile.

They then rushed her to the Kilungu Sub-County Hospital where she passed on while receiving treatment.

Mother collapses, dies on getting news of son's death

In a separate report, a Kenyan family based in the United States was hit by double tragedy after the death of two of their family members who passed away on Tuesday, September 7.

The horrible tragedy occurred when Hellon Gwaro collapsed and died moments after she was informed of the death of her son David Gwaro who died in a road accident.

According to information from a family member Fred Leaky, David, who worked as a DJ succumbed to serious injuries in the single-vehicle crash which occurred in New Jersey, United States on Tuesday.

Fred, a cousin to the 35-year-old DJ said his aunt Hellen collapsed on getting the news of her son's demise and she was later pronounced dead.
