Human rights activist and former Kaduna Central Senator, Shehu Sani has reacted to the call from 2023 presidential aspirant, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu for Nigerian youths to wait until after his own tenure before contesting the presidency.
The All Progressives Congress stalwart during his visit to the palace of the Alaafin of Oyo on Sunday had jokingly said the youths should wait for him to finish his own tenure as president of Nigeria before gunning for the position.
Tinubu had while speaking at the palace of the traditional ruler, prayed for the youths to attain high positions in life including becoming the President of Nigeria.
He however added that they would have to wait until he completes his own tenure in office.
“You will become president…but after me,” he said amidst cheers from those at the gathering.
Reacting to the statement, Sani on Monday via the micro-blogging site of Twitter said by the time the youths are done waiting for Tinubu to become President and complete his tenure, they too would have become elders.
He wrote: “By the time the Youths waited for Baba and waited for Jagaban to finish their tenures, they have become elders themselves.”

In other news, a suit seeking to challenge the eligibility of the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in 2019, Atiku Abubakar has been dismissed by a Federal High Court, Abuja.
Justice Inyang Ekwo while ruling on the suit on Monday noted that the grounds that the plaintiff instituted the case lacked the locus standi (legal right) to do so.
The plaintiff was described by Justice Ekwo as a “busy body and meddlesome interloper.”
